暑期活动,招生官眼中的正确打开方式(二)

昨天雷哥SAT老师介绍了如何选择暑期课外活动,今天要给大家分享的是如何来写申请文书中的活动部分,如何去建立文书的吸引点呢?

 

先来看一下杜兰大学招生官分享的6点注意事项。

1. 无需赘述,挑选主要活动经历,有代表性,能突出你的热情即可。

2. 如果同类型活动很多,那么用简单的话总结就可以了。

3. 活动的列举顺序很重要。你最大的亮点要放在第一个,能一下子抓住眼球,也就是将最擅长、最有热情的排在第一个,然后依次减弱。

4. 虽然美国学校同样很重视社区服务或者公益活动这些项目,但也简单叙述就好,写出几十个招生官们也不会认为你真的热爱公益,反而有刻意堆经历的嫌疑哦,过犹不及~

5. 尽量将参加活动的细节用客观数字表述,就像写CV一样,数据会更有说服力。

6. 活动的名称如果要用缩写,那一定要在第一次出现的地方标注活动全称,否则招生官们很可能不知道你说的到底是什么。

作为学生考虑的更多是如何成为一名优秀的、全面的学生,而实际上,招生官们更多考虑的是建立一个全面的、多元的班级,这就需要招生官们去寻找各种各样、各有特色的学生。所以呢,其实大可不必随波逐流,不管不顾自己喜欢什么、适合什么,就一头扎进所谓的“加分项”去参与活动。去找到你真正热爱的、愿意投入身心去做的事情,坚持下去,一定会形成属于你自己的特色,那么你身上独有的气质和气场自然会产生巨大的吸引力。

2016年UC加州大学申请系统新文书题目

1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you havepositively influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to groupefforts over time.

描述你的一次领导经历,可以体现你对他人的积极影响,帮助解决了争端或者是随着时间的推移,对团队的努力做出了贡献。

2. Every person has a creative side, and it can be expressed in many ways:problem solving, original and innovative thinking, and artistically, to name afew. Describe how you express your creative side.

每个人都有具有创造力的一面,它能通过很多方面表现出来:解决问题,原创的创新思维,和在艺术上的创作等。描述你会如何表达你的创造性。

3. What would you say is your greatest talent or skill? How have you developedand demonstrated that talent over time?

你最突出的才能或技能是什么?一直以来,你是如何培养并展示这一才能或技能的?

4. Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educationalopportunity or worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced.

描述你曾如何利用某次重大教育机遇或如何努力克服教育障碍的经历。

5. Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you havetaken to overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academicachievement?

描述你所遇到的最重大挑战。你是如何克服这一挑战?这个挑战又是如何影响了你的学业表现?

6. Describe your favorite academic subject and explain how it has influencedyou.

谈谈你最喜欢的学科,并解释它如何影响了你。

7. What have you done to make your school or your community a better place?

你对你的学校或者你所在的群体做出了什么贡献,让它变得更好了?

8. What is the one thing that you think sets you apart from other candidatesapplying to the University of California?

你觉得是什么让你能从众多申请者脱颖而出?

 

2016年Common App申请系统文书题目

1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is someaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. Ifthis sounds like you, then please share your story.

一些学生有非常有意义的背景、身份、兴趣或才能,如果不予讲述出来的话,申请就会不完整。如果你是这样的学生,请分享你的故事。

2. The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recountan incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, andwhat did you learn from the experience?

失败是成功之母。叙述一件你失败过的事情或是一段失败沮丧的时期。它对你有何影响,你从中学到了什么?

3. Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you toact? Would you make the same decision again?

你有挑战过的固有的信仰或观念吗?是什么促使你产生这样的行为?你现在还会做出同样的选择吗?

4. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can bean intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma--anything thatis of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to youand what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.

描述一个你已经解决了的问题或你想解决的问题。它可以是一个知识挑战,一个研究调查,一个道德困境,任何对你产生重要影响的事件。请解释它对你的重要性和你采取的措施或将采取的措施。

5. Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal that marked yourtransition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, orfamily.

描述一个标志着你从孩童蜕变成成人的成就或事件。

 

2016年CAAS申请系统文书题目

1. Tell a story from your life, describing an experience that eitherdemonstrates your character or helped to shape it.

请讲述一个你生活中的故事,这段经历是如何呈现你的性格或是塑造的你性格的。

2. Describe a time when you made a meaningful contribution to others in whichthe greater good was your focus. Discuss the challenges and rewards of makingyour contribution.

请讲述一件你为他人做过的有意义的事,你如何为他人带来了帮助,并详细讲述期间所遇到的挑战和收获。

3. Has there been a time when you’ve had a long-cherished or accepted beliefchallenged? How did you respond? How did the challenge affect your beliefs?

有没有那么一刻,你一直坚信不疑的信念受到质疑或挑战?你是如何应对的?这种质疑或挑战有没有动摇你的信念?

4. What is the hardest part of being a teenager now? What’s the best part? Whatadvice would you give a younger sibling or friend (assuming they would listento you)?

你认为作为一个青少年的难处和苦恼是什么?优势和开心的是什么?对于同处于青少年时期的小伙伴或好朋友,你有哪些建议或忠告与他们分享?

5. Submit an essay on a topic of your choice.
